Castries, September 22, 2023 – St. Lucia Electricity Services Limited (LUCELEC) customers may have experienced temporary fluctuations in certain parts of the country and service interruptions in other parts over the past few days. These would have occurred for different reasons.

The first and second on Wednesday, September 13 and Sunday, September 17 were because of separate faults at the company’s Cul-de-Sac power plant and substation. The incident on Wednesday, September 20 and the two on Friday, September 22 were caused by faults on the company’s 66KV transmission network- the first of those was because of a lightning storm and the other two were caused by a fault on a section of the 66KV transmission line between Praslin and Vieux-Fort.

In every instance - the cause of these issues was identified and corrected.

LUCELEC apologizes for the inconvenience caused by the unplanned outages and extends sincere thanks to its customers and the general public for their patience and understanding.
