As St. Lucia observed Remembrance Day on November 14, the St. Lucia Electricity Services Limited (LUCELEC) has chipped in to support the annual poppy appeal.
The power company responded to the annual request from the Poppy Appeal Committee with a donation of $3,500 to help the committee in providing support for ex-servicemen and women and their dependents.
LUCELEC’s Corporate Communications Manager, Roger Joseph, says the company contributes to the cause each year in recognition of the tremendous national service rendered by the ex-servicemen and women.
LUCELEC is collaborating with the Department of Forestry and the St. Lucia National Trust in helping to replant areas that were stripped of trees and soil as a result of the passage of Hurricane Tomas last year.
LUCELEC made the offer to the Department of Forestry shortly after Hurricane Tomas having witnessed first-hand the numerous landslides and bare slopes while undertaking electricity restoration works post Tomas.
