LUCELEC Volunteers Help Clean Up Married Women's Quarters In Vigie

Castries, April 25, 2018 – Staff volunteers from the St. Lucia Electricity Services Limited (LUCELEC) joined the Saint Lucia National Trust staff and members in the clean-up of the Married Women’s Quarters at Vigie in early April. The extensive clearing was labour intensive work that involved cutting and piling of small shrubs, loading trucks with tree trunks and other debris for hauling away, as well as raking and piling of leaves and grass.

Castries, April 19, 2018 – Twenty St. Lucia Electricity Services Limited (LUCELEC) volunteers (along with some children, family and friends) recently turned out for the tree planting trek to the Belle Vue, Vieux-Fort water catchment area. Despite the early start to the day and the challenges in navigating the hilly and muddy terrain, the volunteers were up for the challenge. They were joined by staff from the Forestry Department who, for the past four years have worked to return forest cover to the area.

3 MW Solar Farm Now Feeding LUCELEC Grid

Castries, April 13, 2018 – The St. Lucia Electricity Services Limited (LUCELEC) 3MW Solar Farm in La Tourney, Vieux Fort is now feeding solar energy into the island’s electricity grid. Energy from the nearly 15 thousand solar panels that comprise the island’s first utility-scale solar farm began feeding the grid on Monday, April 9, and the entire 3 megawatts was online on Wednesday, April 11.
