LUCELEC congratulates Top CSEC Performer

Ravindra Mangar is a young man on a Science and Technology mission. Thus far, LUCELEC has accompanied him on that journey. The top Saint Lucian performer in the 2013 CSEC exams, a sixteen year old from Augier in Vieux-Fort attained fifteen subject passes; twelve Grade Ones, including ten distinctions and three Grade Two’s in the May/June 2013 exams.

On Wednesday August 21, 2013, a small presentation was held at the LUCELEC Head Office in Sans Souci to congratulate Ravindra on his impressive feat. LUCELEC is a longstanding supporter of the National Science and Technology Fair, the showcase for Ravindra’s scientific talent since his days at the Plain View Combined School. He continued to participate in the Science Fair while attending the Saint Mary’s College where in 2012, LUCELEC funded his attendance at the Student Programme for Innovation in Science and Engineering (SPISE) in Barbados. He was accompanied by Kesan Samuel who also wrote the 2013 CSEC exams, attaining nine Grade One distinctions.

Ravindra credits the month-long programme which gathers the best young scientific minds from across the region for adding fuel to his dream of a career as an aeronautical engineer. He is also grateful to LUCELEC for the role the company has played in providing an avenue for his success thus far.

“It means a lot to know there’s a corporate sponsor who always has your back. That’s even more valuable these days because there are not many people who support young people in extracurricular activities like the science fair,” says Ravindra.

LUCELEC Corporate Communications Manager Mr Roger Joseph says the company is equally pleased to be associated with the young man and his academic achievements to date.

“We always looked forward to the experiments Ravindra puts on the table during the Science Fair.

The excellence has been there and at LUCELEC we are very proud to have been associated with facilitating his interest in science and technology and as a company that prides itself on excellence, we want to take the opportunity to congratulate Ravindra on his academic performance, attitude and approach to the work that he does,” says Mr Joseph.

Ravindra’s father Jairraj Mangar added his appreciation to LUCELEC, commending the company as, “one of the few corporations who would have called and presented him with something.”

Ravindra was handed the company’s token by Acting Managing Director Mr Victor Emmanuel, and the company is making arrangements for Ravindra to receive a white board and dry erase markers to put up in his room to assist with his studies.  Also in attendance at
