LUCELEC Recognizes Staff for 2013 Fiscal Year

Dona Emmanuel of the Planning Department is the St Lucia Electricity Services Ltd (LUCELEC) 2013 Employee of the Year. Emmanuel, who joined the company in 1997, has been employed at LUCELEC for the past 17 years and was also recognized for Perfect Attendance and Employee of the Fourth Quarter.

Emmanuel emerged the big winner during the annual LUCELEC Staff Appreciation Ceremony which was held on Friday February 21, 2014. The remaining six winners of the Employee of the Fourth Quarter award are Germaine Andrew, Graham King, Moses Montoute, Samuel Alexander, Sybil Dostalie and Chelsa Jongue.

The other major award handed out at Friday’s Ceremony was Supervisor of the Year which went to Customer Service Supervisor Vilna Joseph of the Company’s Vieux Fort office.

In addition, Special Achievement Awards were presented to employees who went above and beyond their duties in 2013. These went to Marian Peter, Randolph Daniel, Monique Dubisson, Graham King, Nathanial Deterville and Jasmine Lee.

A record number of staff was recognized during the event held at the Cul-de-Sac power plant including 58 for Perfect Attendance and 40 for Length of Service.

Speaking at the top of the ceremony, LUCELEC Managing Director Trevor Louisy congratulated staff for their 2013 achievements which he called remarkable given challenges that included declining growth and a tough operating environment.

“Given the prevailing local social and economic conditions, achieving and maintaining operational excellence and efficiencies was not only a desirable goal, but an imperative.  The results that we have achieved required the commitment of the entire company to coaxing the most out of our aging electricity system infrastructure, to improving our work processes and to aligning the company culture to the Strategic Plan and the core values that we have agreed are important to us,” Louisy noted.

The LUCELEC Staff Appreciation Ceremony was held at the Company’s Cul De Sac facility under the theme, “50 Years of Powering Lives, Dreams and Communities…50 Years of Powering the Nations Success.”
