HOW ELECTRICITY GETS TO YOUR HOME

Electricity is an important part of your everyday life, it keeps your home cool in the summer. Without it, you would never be able to watch your favourite TV show or listen to your MP3 player.

At LUCELEC electricity leaves Cul de Sac and is transported to 7 substations around the island at 66,000 volts (66kV).Substations are load centres at key points around the island: Reduit, Union, Castries, Cul de Sac, Soufriere, Vieux Fort, Praslin Substations step down the voltage to 11,000 volts (11kV) for distribution to smaller transformers to supply customers at 240V or 415V.
