Castries, March 5, 2020 – There are some things that are now standard at the St. Lucia Electricity Services Limited (LUCELEC) launch of Health and Safety Month. Team members and contractors recite the Go Zero Pledge. And a report is provided on the company’s safety performance for the previous year. In this instance, the familiar brought an extraordinary accomplishment - one that had only been done once before.

Castries, March 29, 2019 – St. Lucia Electricity Services Limited (LUCELEC) has one hundred and seventy-three (173) male team members. They are the overwhelming majority at the electric utility. It was to them Fr Ignatius Cetoute spoke, urging care of their emotional health. The Catholic priest was the featured speaker at the launch of the annual LUCELEC Health and Safety Month in March.

A safety culture is the “attitude, beliefs, perceptions and values that employees share in relation to safety in the workplace.” Ensuring the safety culture at the St. Lucia Electricity Services Limited (LUCELEC) is understood and maintained by every employee and contractor is the fundamental tenet that informs the now 21 year old observance of Health and Safety Month. And because culture is ever changing, what began as a one week observance focused only on health and safety has since grown to one month with a focus on health, safety, environment and fire awareness.
