LUCELEC Statement On Norbert Road Rehabilitation Project

Castries, February 4, 2026 – St.  Lucia Electricity Services Limited (LUCELEC) Managing Director Gilroy Pultie has reaffirmed the power company’s commitment to public safety and open dialogue. This follows recent public statements from the contractor on the Norbert Road Rehabilitation Project where the issue of estimate cost and public safety were raised. He says all company estimates are prepared using established and standardized procedures.

Castries, August 20, 2024At 8:53 a.m. on Friday, August 16, 2024, St. Lucia Electricity Services Limited (LUCELEC) experienced a loss of service to approximately 20% of its valued customers.

The outage was caused by a fault on its distribution network due to excavation works that damaged a section of underground cable close to the LUCELEC Cul-de-Sac substation.

LUCELEC technical teams immediately began network system repairs with restoration beginning at 9:37 a.m. and ending at 2:32 p.m. on Friday afternoon.

Castries, June 12, 2024Technical teams from the St. Lucia Electricity Services Limited (LUCELEC) responded to reports of a member of the public sustaining an electrical shock, on Tuesday June 11, 2024, in Piaye, Choiseul.  Based on preliminary reports, the individual was fatally injured on a construction site while handling a metal object that came into contact with high-voltage power lines.
