Castries, July 2, 2022 A tropical wave resulted in loss of power to about 2% of St. Lucia Electricity Services Limited (LUCELEC) customers last night.  At the height of the severe weather, one area in the South and another in Castries were without service. Customers from Dennery to Micoud lost power when the Praslin substation tripped at 11:33 p.m. on Friday, July 1, 2022. Customers at Hospital Road, Faud-a-Chaux and some parts of Castries lost power at 3:21 a.m. on Saturday, July 2.

Castries, March 14, 2022At 5:31 a.m. on March 14, 2022, St. Lucia experienced an island wide power outage.

The outage was caused by a cable fault at the Cul De Sac facility.  The fault triggered the protection system, resulting in a total shutdown of the electricity system.

Castries, July 04, 2021 – As at 5:00 p.m., Sunday, July 4, 2021, St. Lucia Electricity Services Limited (LUCELEC) had restored power to 99% of customers following the passage of Hurricane Elsa on Friday, July 2. All of the high-tension repair and restoration work has been completed.
