Statement on Island-Wide Outage - Friday, September 10, 2021

Castries, September 10, 2021At 5:37 p.m., September 10, 2021, Saint Lucia experienced an island wide power outage.

The outage was caused by a protection fault at the generating plant at Cul De Sac.  The fault tripped all of the generators, resulting in a total shutdown of the electricity system.

Castries, September 8, 2021The Caribbean Science Foundation (CSF) concluded its Summer 2021 Computer Coding Workshops for regional students on August 28 with two public showcases. The student teams demonstrated their projects on website development and videogames based on the computer language, Python. The next session of these two workshops will begin in early January 2022.

Castries, August 18, 2021 – Remember the name Jynene Alfay. The 17-year-old is the 2021 St. Lucia Electricity Services Limited (LUCELEC) Student Programme for Innovation in Science and Engineering (SPISE) scholar. She completed the programme in early August with two awards - Most Improved Student in Calculus II and the Top Performer in Physics I.
