LUCELEC Recognizes Nearly 150 Team Members For Long Service

Castries, July 27, 2023 – It is often said that when people join the St. Lucia Electricity Services Limited (LUCELEC) - they remain connected for a lifetime. The seventy-six (76) retirees who recently attended the company’s annual Retirees luncheon bear testament to that belief. The same can be said of the one hundred and forty-two (142) team members who, in June 2023, were celebrated for their length of service milestones to the company.

LUCELEC spared no effort in recognition of the employee milestones achieved from 2019 to 2022 - forty-four (44) with a decade of service; thirty-four (34) with fifteen (15) years; seventeen (17) who have worked at the company for twenty (20) years; nineteen (19) with 25-year milestones, twenty (20) with thirty (30); the seven (7) who have been employed for thirty-five (35) years and Gerald Sidoine, the lone employee who celebrated his 40-year milestone!

The Mechanical Engineering Technician from the company’s Generation Department, accepted his award and the accompanying standing ovation with grace, humility, and an understandably huge smile.

“I feel elated, it’s been a nice journey at LUCELEC. I’ve had no regrets. I started immediately after school with the Apprenticeship Scheme in 1981 and I’ve never turned back. It’s been a wonderful journey.”

The timing of the Milestone Awards ceremony was strategic and impeccable. It provided an opportunity for the company’s retiring Managing Director, Trevor Louisy to formally congratulate the employees who journeyed with him during his own 37 years of service to the company.

Mr. Louisy stood at the start of the receiving line to congratulate each employee who received awards and tokens of appreciation. His own milestone award was presented to him by his successor Gilroy Pultie - who assumed the role of LUCELEC Managing Director on July 1.

A fitting end to one LUCELEC story and the continued service of another. 

The LUCELEC Transmission & Distribution Department recognized the most employees with thirty-nine (39), followed by Generation with thirty-eight (38). Finance & Accounts celebrated eighteen (18); Customer Service seventeen (17) followed by Planning and Facilities & Construction Management with five (5) each; Human Resources with four (4); Engineering, Administration and IS with two (2) each with Internal Audit and Corporate Services completing the list of awardees with one (1) respectively.
