Castries, March 18, 2026 – A second cohort of linemen from the St. Lucia Electricity Services Limited (LUCELEC) has returned to Saint Lucia after completing a four-week deployment in Jamaica. The team provided post‑hurricane electricity restoration support at the request of the Jamaica Public Service (JPS).

The milestone is being observed during the company’s annual Health and Safety Month under the theme, “30 Years Strong: Celebrating our Past, Engineering our future to power a safer tomorrow.”

Castries, March 07, 2026 – At 5:00 p.m. on March 06, 2026, Saint Lucia experienced an island wide power outage.

The outage was caused by the unexpected operation of a  protection system at LUCELEC’s Cul De Sac plant and resulted in a total shutdown of the electricity system.

Following investigations, power restoration commenced at 5:50 p.m. with supply progressively returning across the island. Restoration was completed at 9:10 p.m.

LUCELEC has initiated a detailed review of the event as part of its standard post-incident process.
