Internal Fault Triggers System Shutdown

Castries, January 21, 2020The island experienced a total electrical system shutdown at approximately 7:55 a.m. on Tuesday, January 21. 

The power outage was caused by a major internal fault at the Cul De Sac power station.  The fault triggered the protection systems at the power station, resulting in a total System shutdown. 

After the faulted zone was isolated, appropriate checks and inspections commenced, and the process of restoring the system was initiated.  Power restoration started around 9:05 a.m. and was completed at 10:13 a.m.

Castries, November 18, 2019 – The St. Lucia Electricity Services Limited (LUCELEC) and the Civil Service Association (CSA) signed the collective agreement for the period 2011-2013, on Friday, November 15. The CSA represents the Company’s Grade 1 employees (Junior Staff). The signing took place at the CSA Centre in Sans Souci in the presence of Labour Officer Kissenger Smith.

This is the tenth year the St. Lucia Electricity Services Limited (LUCELEC) and Bank of Saint Lucia have teamed up with the Castries Football Council (CFC) to develop youth football players. The youth football league uniquely tailored to their skills, bodies and minds began in 2009. It was the first of its kind in the country. It challenged the status quo. Its mission was to create happy and talented youth footballers. In so doing, the League bred champions and revolutionized how youth tournaments are executed at the national level.
