Castries, December 25, 2013 – Following the heavy rains and severe lightning of yesterday and last night, the following is an update on the status of the national electricity infrastructure and electricity outages.

St. Lucia Electricity Services Limited (LUCELEC) has initiated its emergency response systems and a thorough system status check is currently underway.  At this point we are aware that the following major areas are out of power:

Members of the St Lucia Electricity Services Limited (LUCELEC) Generation Department have delivered on their promise to fund a Christmas party for students of the Lady Gordon Opportunity Centre.

There should be no major changes in the business relationship between St Lucia Electricity Services Limited (LUCELEC) and the Hess Terminal at Cul De Sac, now under new ownership.

So says LUCELEC Managing Director Mr Trevor Louisy following a meeting on Tuesday, November 12, 2013 between LUCELEC and the President and CEO of Buckeye Partners Mr Clark Smith and Senior Vice President/President, International Pipelines and Terminals of Buckeye Caribbean Mr Khalid Muslih.
